Passa tranquillamente tra il rumore e la fretta, e ricorda quanta pace può esserci nel silenzio.
Finché è possibile senza doverti abbassare, sii in buoni rapporti con tutte le persone.
Di' la verità con calma e chiarezza; e ascolta gli altri, anche i noiosi e gli ignoranti; anche loro hanno una storia da raccontare.
Evita le persone volgari ed aggressive; esse opprimono lo spirito.
Se ti paragoni agli altri, corri il rischio di far crescere in te orgoglio e acredine, perché sempre ci saranno persone più in basso o più in alto di te.
Gioisci dei tuoi risultati così come dei tuoi progetti.
Conserva l'interesse per il tuo lavoro, per quanto umile; è ciò che realmente possiedi per cambiare le sorti del tempo.
Sii prudente nei tuoi affari, perché il mondo è pieno di tranelli.
Ma ciò non acciechi la tua capacità di distinguere la virtù; molte persone lottano per grandi ideali, e dovunque la vita è piena di eroismo.
Sii te stesso.
Soprattutto non fingere negli affetti e neppure sii cinico riguardo all'amore; poiché a dispetto di tutte le aridità e disillusioni esso è perenne come l'erba.
Accetta benevolmente gli ammaestramenti che derivano dall'età, lasciando con un sorriso sereno le cose della giovinezza.
Coltiva la forza dello spirito per difenderti contro l'improvvisa sfortuna.
Ma non tormentarti con l'immaginazione.
Molte paure nascono dalla stanchezza e dalla solitudine.
Al di là di una disciplina morale, sii tranquillo con te stesso.
Tu sei figlio dell'universo, non meno degli alberi e delle stelle; tu hai diritto ad essere qui.
E che ti sia chiaro o no, non vi è dubbio che l'universo ti si stia schiudendo come dovrebbe.
Perciò sii in pace con Dio, comunque tu Lo concepisca, e qualunque siano le tue lotte e le tue aspirazioni, conserva la pace con la tua anima pur nella rumorosa confusione della vita.
Con tutti i suoi inganni, i lavori ingrati e i sogni infranti, è ancora un mondo stupendo.

Fai attenzione.

Cerca di essere felice.

Go placidly amid the noise and the haste

and remember what peace there may be in silence.

As far as possible, without surrender,

be on good terms with all persons.

Speak your truth quietly and clearly;

and listen to others,

even to the dull and the ignorant;

they too have their story.

Avoid loud and aggressive persons;

they are vexatious to the spirit.

If you compare yourself with others,

you may become vain or bitter,

for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.

Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.

Keep interested in your own career, however humble;

it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.

Exercise caution in your business affairs,

for the world is full of trickery.

But let this not blind you to what virtue there is;

many persons strive for high ideals,

and everywhere life is full of heroism.

Be yourself. Especially do not feign affection.

Neither be cynical about love,

for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment,

it is as perennial as the grass.

Take kindly the counsel of the years,

gracefully surrendering the things of youth.

Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune.

But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings.

Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.

Beyond a wholesome discipline,

be gentle with yourself.

You are a child of the universe

no less than the trees and the stars;

you have a right to be here.

And whether or not it is clear to you,

no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.

Therefore be at peace with God,

whatever you conceive Him to be.

And whatever your labors and aspirations,

in the noisy confusion of life,

keep peace in your soul.

With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams,

it is still a beautiful world.

Be cheerful. Strive to be happy.
